ARTIST STATEMENT

Ran Walker works in fragments: short stories, short films, held moments. His microfiction and microcinema move with intention, shaped by pauses, cuts, and what refuses to be explained. Silence isn’t decorative in his work; it’s structural.
He writes and films toward what lingers. A look that lasts a second too long. A sentence that ends early. An image that stays after the screen goes dark. Meaning gathers in restraint, in what’s withheld, in the space where the reader or viewer has to meet the work halfway.

Across page and screen, Ran is less interested in spectacle than pressure. His work doesn’t resolve so much as echo. Each piece stands alone but gestures outward, part of a larger, unfinished mythology built from everyday moments, memory, and the unreal slipping into the real.

Unconcerned with trends or algorithms, Ran builds a language that is spare, Black, and Afrosurreal, one that trusts compression, attention, and the power of the cut. He allows the strange to remain strange.

In a culture crowded with noise, his work offers stillness, not as escape, but as focus, a place where story and silence exist side by side, each sharpening the other.
